Operational self-defence (SOCCC + Bricpol)

Simple, effective responses to real-life situations.

The discipline

Operational self-defence – SOCCC & BRICPOL

Learn to protect yourself, handle dangerous situations and develop your reflexes through two complementary self-defence methods.

In Saxon, in the heart of Valais, the World BRICPOL Sport Academy offers self-defence teaching for children, teenagers, adults and security professionals.

Our aim: to teach you to anticipate danger, control your emotions and respond in an appropriate, effective and proportionate way.

The discipline

SOCCC – Synthèse opérationnelle du combat au corps à corps (operational synthesis of hand-to-hand combat)

SOCCC is a close-combat and operational defence method based on effectiveness, simplicity and adaptation to confrontational situations.

Its teaching develops footwork, defensive reflexes, distance management, release techniques and ways of controlling an individual.

The aim is not only to know how to fight, but to develop the ability to assess a situation, avoid confrontation whenever possible and act with sound judgement.

BRICPOL – Brigade de compétition policière (police competition brigade)

BRICPOL offers teaching focused on personal protection, defence techniques and the physical control of a situation.

It places particular emphasis on stress management, protecting oneself and others, control techniques and respect for proportionality in the use of force.

The training combines technical drills, progressive scenario training and the development of automatic responses.

BRICPOL also has a sporting dimension, allowing interested practitioners to take part in events and competitions in a regulated environment.

Our philosophy: the three Ds

Distance – Displacement – Direction

Three fundamental principles of our teaching.

Learning to keep a safe distance, move intelligently and direct your action to protect your physical integrity.

At the World BRICPOL Sport Academy, we focus on prevention, self-confidence, emotional control and respect for others.

Who are our classes for?

Our training welcomes children from age 5, teenagers and adults, beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

It is also aimed at people who want to add to their professional skills in security, protection and intervention.

Each participant progresses according to their age, physical abilities and experience.

History

History of BRICPOL and SOCCC

Two methods, two founders, one shared philosophy: protect before you fight.

At the World BRICPOL Sport Academy, we have chosen to bring together two complementary methods of operational self-defence, developed by two experienced professionals in combat sports and security.

Their shared philosophy rests on a fundamental principle: force should only be used as a last resort, when it is necessary, justified and proportionate.

BRICPOL – A method born of Spanish police experience

Founded in 2010 in León, Spain, by Santiago Bango Pérez, BRICPOL grew out of a wish to give police officers and security professionals additional tools to deal with the realities on the ground.

A former professional kickboxer and multiple world champion, Santiago Bango Pérez also has long experience in the security professions, complemented by university studies in criminology.

BRICPOL combines the technical, tactical, physical, psychological and legal dimensions of police intervention.

Developed and refined over more than fifteen years, the method places particular emphasis on stress management, self-control, violence prevention and the proportionate use of force.

Its founder has also taken part in training courses for police professionals and in specialised university teaching on security and intervention techniques.

Santiago Bango Pérez is now an honorary member and consultant of the World BRICPOL Sport Academy, contributing to the transmission and international development of this approach.

SOCCC – A method drawn from experience of prison interventions

SOCCC – Synthèse opérationnelle du combat au corps à corps (operational synthesis of hand-to-hand combat) – was created in France in 2016 by Guillaume Bernard, a professional in intervention techniques and a monitor in the French prison service.

A former professional fighter and experienced combat sports practitioner, he developed this method based on his sporting and professional background.

His aim: to offer a synthesis of defence and control techniques that are easy to learn, realistic and suited to confrontational situations.

SOCCC gives a central place to anticipation, verbal de-escalation, distance management, physical control and respect for the legal framework.

The teaching is based on progressive drills, scenario training and synthesis circuits that test knowledge under fatigue and stress.

Originally designed to meet the needs of security professionals, SOCCC is also open to civilians learning self-defence.

Complementary methods serving training

Combining BRICPOL and SOCCC at the World BRICPOL Sport Academy makes it possible to offer a complete approach to operational self-defence.

Two founders, two professional backgrounds, one shared conviction: the best intervention is the one that protects people while limiting the use of violence.

In Saxon, in Valais, we pass on these methods in a structured environment, open to civilian practitioners as well as professionals who want to develop their skills.

Our aim: to train people who are able to analyse, prevent, defend themselves and act with sound judgement.

Federation

World Bricpol Federation (WBF).

The FSI federation and SOCCC

SOCCC (Synthèse opérationnelle du combat au corps à corps) is a French operational self-defence method founded in 2016 by Guillaume Bernard.

Its development is overseen by the FSI – Fédération de Self-défenses et techniques d’Interventions, chaired by Guillaume Bernard.

The federation brings together clubs and professionals around teaching based on effectiveness, conflict prevention, respect for the legal framework and the proportionate use of force.

It also runs monitor training courses and awards federal qualifications.

In Switzerland, SOCCC is represented by Marco Garcia Gonneau, who is also an instructor and the Swiss head of this discipline at the World BRICPOL Sport Academy.
